Standing Room Only (SRO) is a 14-piece big swing band which plays the vintage big band sounds of Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, and many others. The Almonte-based band has recreated the period atmosphere of the ‘tea dance’ in a series of monthly dances held Sunday afternoons at the Old Town Hall in Almonte, Ontario. This is the fifth (!) year of these very popular dances which the band both organizes and provides the music for. SRO also provides live big band music for dances organized by other groups. During the past year, in addition to the tea dances, SRO played for the Ottawa Swing Dance Society members at one of their Friday night dances, the public Spencerville Country Christmas Remembered Swing Dance, the Young Awards Gala, and others.
